Ink — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 April 2026
Ink is a distraction-free writing app delivered as a Chrome extension. It is designed around a simple principle: your words belong to you and stay on your machine.
What Ink does not do
- Ink does not collect any personal data.
- Ink does not transmit your text, files, or any other information to any server.
- Ink does not include analytics, telemetry, error reporting, or tracking of any kind.
- Ink does not display advertising.
- Ink does not load any external resources at runtime — fonts and code are bundled inside the extension.
- Ink does not require an account, registration, or login.
What Ink does
Ink stores a local working draft of your text in your browser’s local storage, so that if you close the tab your text is still there when you come back. This data never leaves your device.
When you press Save, Ink uses your browser’s File System Access API to write the content to a file on your computer at a location you choose. Ink only has access to files you explicitly open or save.
Permissions
Ink does not request any special permissions in its manifest beyond what is needed to open its own tab and write to files you select.
Children
Ink is suitable for users of any age and does not collect data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear at this URL.
